LGBT Executives Speak Out
Jay Allen, Tara Bunch, Mitchell Gold, Donna Griffin, Cathy Halligan
When John Browne resigned as chief executive of BP earlier this year, he announced, "For the past
41 years of my career at BP I have kept my private life separate from my business life. I have always regarded my sexuality as a personal matter, to be kept private." Meanwhile, author Kirk Snyder has published a book, The G Quotient, arguing that the unique experiences of gay executives make them better managers and
leaders. This group of seasoned executives discuss how being openly LGBT has impacted their career goals and what the future holds for LGBT people hoping to move into the top spots of the business world.

Caucuses:

This year, Out & Equal unveils a new aspect of the Summit, the focused caucus sessions! Caucuses are designed to harness the expertise and interests of our attendees as we tackle some of the most complex issues related to LGBT workplace equality. The format is an open dialogue and we’re looking for you to tell us how we can create action plans and address these topics.

Wanted: Non-GWM for ERG Activities
Facilitator, Chris Crespo
Ever show up at your employee resource group activity and find yourself being the only woman, transgender person, or person of color there? Representatives from several businesses and Catalyst will facilitate a discussion on why there is often little involvement from those who are other than GWM (gay white males). What can we do to encourage more involvement? What activities and leadership opportunities would attract non-GWMs? What leading practices for helping all of us improve our inclusion of non-GWMs can we identify? Please join us in a discussion on what we can do differently to get (and keep) everyone involved.

Sales or Sellout—Should General Advertising Forget LGBT Awareness?
Facilitator, Michael Wilke
Does your company advertise in LGBT media but ignore LGBT people in all other advertising? Worse, does it leverage homophobia, transphobia, and LGBT stereotypes in mass advertising, even as it sells to the LGBT market? Please join us to discuss how to bring niche advertising and mass advertising onto the same page of LGBT awareness and inclusion. Non-advertising/marketing department people are also invited to be part of strategizing, and bringing the issue to their company.

Coming Out as a Person of Color
Facilitator, Deidra Mitchem
For religious and cultural reasons, many people of color communities are perceived as less accepting of sexual orientation and gender identity/expression. Often times, LGBT people of color are faced with choosing between their ethnic community and the LGBT community. How do we address biases and overcome prejudice within our ethnic communities? How do we address racism and bias within the LGBT community? As LGBT people of color, can we afford to come out? Can we afford not to?

Generations: Shifting Attitudes Through
Boomers, X, Y and New Silent

Facilitators, Jennifer Brown and Samir Luther
Many of today’s corporate diversity initiatives and LGBT employee resource groups are populated and led by the "Baby Boomer" and "Generation X" workforce, whereas many "Generation Y" (20-something) workers see their LGBT identity peripheral to other aspects of their identity. How do we account for shifting attitudes about LGBT identity in the workplace? How do we galvanize and involve the future generation of "out" leaders? Can we create an LGBT ERG that appeals to those just entering the workforce without alienating our veteran members? In what ways can we prepare ourselves, our allies, and our corporate structure for the newest ideas about sexual orientation and gender identity of the New Silent Generation (a.k.a.
"Generation Z"—today’s teenagers)?
